How much do you charge? For smaller jobs, we charge £30 for the first ½-hour, and £15 per ½-hour thereafter. For larger projects which may take one or more days, we'll give you an estimate based on our lower daily rate. All materials we supply are charged extra. At the moment, we don't charge VAT. Does this include the cost of materials? No. Any materials we supply are extra. Many customers have already bought their own materials, and use us only for labour. However, we do carry a wide selection of commonly needed parts and materials with us in case you've forgotten anything, so we're often able to just get on with the job. We're equally happy to select and supply the parts and materials you need, but we'll charge you for this. Do you give free estimates? We can give you a good idea of the time needed to do most jobs over the phone. If when we arrive the job looks like it's going to take a lot longer, we'll revise our estimate, and if you then decide not to go ahead, we won't charge you anything. For bigger jobs, such as fitting a new kitchen, we'll call first to discuss your project with you and give you an estimate. How quickly can you attend? All our work is booked in advance, usually a few days ahead. But we can sometimes take on work the same day. Do you work in the evenings and at the weekends? Yes. We charge a premium of 50% for this service. Will you be on time? We know your time is valuable, and we know how frustrating it can be when tradesmen are either late or don't turn up at all. We keep a strict diary system and make every effort to be on time, but we do sometimes get held up in traffic or on a previous job. If for any reason we get delayed by more than 15 minutes, we'll call to let you know. What areas do you cover? Harpenden Handyman covers St. Albans, Harpenden, Luton, and the surrounding towns and villages. Beyond the St. Albans, Harpenden and Luton corridor, we charge £15 per ½-hour travel time.	Do you guarantee the work you do? We take great pride in our work, and we want you to be delighted with the results. If you are not completely satisfied, we'll come back and correct it for you. Are you insured? Yes. We carry £1m of public liability insurance. Do you have all the right tools? Yes. We carry all the right tools and a wide selection of fixing parts to tackle a wide variety of jobs. We also have additional specialist tools which we bring with us when we think we're likely to need them. How qualified are the people you use? We have a core group of people on our team, and occasionally bring in complimentary staff who we've worked closely with over many years. Unlike many other handymen, every member of our team is fully City & Guilds qualified in one or more trades, and has a minimum of 5 years practical experience in all the other types of work we undertake. Do you do Gas work? Generally no. We have a Corgi approved gas engineer who we bring in as needed when, for example, we're fitting a new kitchen, and need to move or fit a new boiler or gas hob. What's the largest job you can take on? Most of our jobs take between 30 minutes and a day, but we do take on jobs lasting several days, such as kitchen fitting. Do you do work for Landlords, Estate Agents and Letting Agents? Yes. We often do pre-letting repairs for Letting Agents as well as Landlords. Often a Tenanted property requires some degree of ongoing repair and maintenance, and in these cases we can liaise directly with the Tenant. We also do pre-move or 'snagging' repairs to newly bought properties for both Estate Agents and new homeowners. How can I pay? Cash, cheque, or by credit card through Paypal. For Landlords, Estate and Letting Agents and other Customers who use us on a regular basis, we can bill you provided you pay us within 14 days.
